We were approached by a user of an existing rectal irrigation (also called trans-anal irrigation) product. He found the available systems too complex to use and rather 'old-fashioned' and asked if we could come up with something better.

These products really can transform the day-to-day lives of the people who use them so we set about talking to users, healthcare professionals and manufacturers to find out what they needed and what was possible. The result was a range of products that were designed to make the process of irrigation as smooth as possible with a focus on comfort and dignity. During the process a number of patents were secured for the innovations developed.

We entered into a joint venture with the originator of the idea and one of our manufacturing partners in China, establishing the company and getting the products listed on the UK NHS Drug Tariff, international distribution soon followed. The company was a disruptor in the sector and attracted interest from several players in the market. The business was eventually acquired by the Renew Group in early 2020 and we continue to work with them helping to innovate and grow their business.

We worked with long-term client VitalCare to develop a simple sampling port that was easy to manufacture and low-cost to produce.

Existing devices are usually dual-shot or over-molded which can be expensive. We developed a design that was made from two separate components that are simply pushed-together with no adhesives required. This enabled a wider choice of materials to be used for each of the components as well as simplifying the molding of the parts. 

Our in-house prototyping facilities meant we were able to design, test, refine and complete the design within a matter of days.
